The Good Life

It's rare that I can finally breathe, sit down, and just write. It's a Saturday morning, the sun is shining...and I'm at work. It is all good though, because it gives me the time to spend on myself. I can finally catch up with Vampire Diaries, start writing my paper(s), and/or anything else that I choose to spend my Saturday doing.

The church behind my dorm building.
Joe Biden comes to mass here...no big deal.
But for now, I'm going to reflect on my 1 month anniversary at school. Let me just say, it has been an absolute whirlwind. There are ups, downs, illnesses, laughter, tears (ok...tears from laughter?), pain, and sweat. Such an eclectic mixture of emotions make for an incredibly long first month. It has definitely been an amazing time...but four more years of this? It already feels like a semester has gone by! How am I supposed to last through hundreds of pages more of papers needed to be written, hours of devoted time needed for studying, and more importantly--hours lost of sleeping? If I am supposed to be living the "good life" at the same rate I am now, then I feel a burn out in the foreseeable future. Which leads to my next rant...

I'm not even doing anything productive with my time. I've yet to join a single club, go to office hours, or even gone to the gym (ok once...but a frozen yogurt truck was right outside, so it was pretty counter productive) but my days are still always jammed packed with classes and work. And when I'm not at said places, I am taking on my other duties. You know... people to be hanging out with, meals to be eaten, movies to be watched, etc (I guess my priorities aren't exactly straight).

So why I have titled this post "the good life?" Because no matter how much pressure I feel to conform to the typical standards of a successful college student, I am enjoying everyday. Something always makes my day infinitely better. So yes, I would say I am living the good life.
